The Original Since 1925.
Frank Pepe arrived in New Haven from Maiori, Italy, and in 1925 began selling tomato pies from a coal-fired oven on Wooster Street — thin, charred, and unlike anything America had tasted. A century later the ovens still burn coal, the Original Tomato Pie is still on the menu, and the line still runs down the block. This is where American pizza began.
